Built through service, systems, and curiosity
My approach to engineering started before I worked in security. As an Infantry Sergeant in the U.S. Army, I learned to prepare carefully, communicate intent, and remain accountable when conditions changed.
I came to security through systems work. Reporting at Boeing, infrastructure and operations at Church of the Highlands, graduate computer-science study, and building software have each given me a different way to test an idea against reality.
Engineering Philosophy
Excellence. Excellence is rarely the result of individual brilliance. It comes from disciplined execution, thoughtful collaboration, and relentless refinement.
Mission. Technology should improve the lives of the people who depend on it. Security is not the destination. It is an enabling function that creates confidence for customers, employees, and the business.
Ownership. Engineers own problems. Ownership means caring about outcomes rather than activity.
Build. I learn by building. Research becomes software. Ideas become prototypes. Principles become systems.
Simplicity. Complexity has a cost. The goal is not the smallest solution. The goal is the simplest solution that completely solves the problem.
Continuous Learning. Technology evolves continuously. Great engineers evolve with it. Learning is not preparation for future work. Learning is part of the work.
Collaboration. Great engineering is a team sport. The strongest solutions emerge when people with different backgrounds challenge one another respectfully while pursuing the same mission.
